Your roof not only protects your home, it also enhances its beauty and influences its value. The overall quality of installation is based on many factors. We believe that lack of education is directly responsible for most dissatisfied consumers. Following is a partial list of items that can be covered more fully by contacting our company.

Tear Off & Expectations
Removing an existing roof is a massive undertaking. If not handled appropriately it can be devastating to the landscape, attic areas and even the interior of your home. Time should be taken to ensure you choose a quality, conscientious contractor who has the skills, management, and resources needed to perform to your expectations.

Non-Compliant Electrical Lines
Electrical wires strung up and over the rafters or within 3" of the roof deck are a fire hazard . Fasteners penetrating the wire insulation can cause a short circuit resulting in a fire. Vaulted ceilings with canned lights and HVAC power lines are the most common problem areas. Our professional consultants will discuss this important issue further.

Carbon Monoxide Poison
During the installation process the crews will need to flash the gas exhaust vents to the new roof. It is important to know that even the slightest disturbance on the roof can dislodge the fittings and cause a deadly carbon monoxide leak or fire. This dangerous situation can be easily prevented with a little proper planning.

Children & Pet Safety
Roofing your home creates a temporary construction site that children find absolutely intriguing, and pets find unnerving. Because some material and equipment will probably be left overnight, it is important to remind children of the dangers.
Pets that are easily distressed should be moved to a more suitable environment.

Pool & Spa Protection
Nails can stain the plaster or damage the vacuum equipment. For your protection, our crews will tarp the entire pool and spa areas. We do recommend that pool pumps be turned off prior to installation and that a cleaning be scheduled after your new roof is installed.

Vibration & Preparation
Loose or breakable items should be removed from the walls and shelves to protect them from damage. The vibration will cause dust to fall through light fixtures, A/C vents, and other ceiling penetrations. It is best not to have anyone who has allergies or asthma present during the installation process.

Landscape Issues
We understand the time and expense in the upkeep of your landscaping. In order to protect your lawn against foot traffic, please turn off automatic sprinkler systems a day or two before the installation begins. Also, it is wise to mow your lawn the day before installation begins. This allows for a much more thorough clean up.

Noise Pollution
Construction is extremely noisy. Be mentally prepared for the sound of constant hammering, sawing, and foot traffic for two or more days, depending on the size of your roof.

Tree Trimming
Trees can be a major cause of the premature wearing of a roof. Besides damaging shingles, leaf debris accumulating in the valley areas can cause shingles to deteriorate and promote algae growth. If your trees need to be trimmed in order to keep limbs off the roof, please do so before the project begins.

Skylights
Skylights domes must be removed in order to properly flash them. When the domes are removed, occasionally the tape and bedding that is stuck to the inside of the skylight frame cracks and peels slightly. This is unavoidable especially in the case of bathroom and kitchen skylights. Additionally, if your home has bathroom skylights, please remember to schedule bathing times appropriately.

Attic Preparation & Clean Up
During the removal of an existing roof, items stored in your attic are subject to dust and debris. Remove any delicate items stored there. Be watchful for dust and small debris when opening the attic hatch for the first time after a new roof is installed.

Electrical Issues
Occasionally, power tools used to install your new roof may trip circuit breakers. This could cause a potentially dangerous situation if medical equipment is being used. Please recognize this danger and take any precautionary actions needed.

Exterior Home Protection
Some minor home exterior damage can occur during this major construction project. However, a quality contractor should know how to prevent most of these incidents. Therefore, we protect A/C units, windows and screens, move lawn furniture and do our best to be consistently professional.

Gutter Protection
Stars Roofing uses “U” shaped attachments to keep ladders from damaging gutters. These attachments prevent the ladders from coming in contact with the gutters and stabilize the ladder for the crew’s safety. Even though very few contractors take the precautionary measures we do, please understand that a few scratches and minor dents are sometimes unavoidable.

Access To Your Home
It is wise to keep your cars, boats, and trailers away from the area and out of the driveway during installation. Additionally, we will need access to all areas of your yard for cleanup.
